Slenderman girl denied parole

What were the odds of two mentally ill teens ganging up together to do something so awful. I remember this story. Working in Juvenile justice for 36 years I saw many young kids that did horrible adult crimes. I still couldn't advise as to how they should be handled. It seems terrible that a kid should be locked away but how do we protect the public from them. It was always a terribly sad situation to handle. We would often house them until they reached the age where they could be moved to an adult facility. Often while we housed them for years you become desensitized to their crimes and see them just as kids, which adds to the mental gymnastics a person's emotions go through.
