I actually liked part 3 better than part 2. The first one had a good dark, gritty atmosphere and made the character out to be a barely civilized predator turned reluctant anti-hero out of self preservation much more than any sliver of altruism. I felt the third film brought the focus back to these traits in the character after the second turned him into almost a full fledged chosen one super hero complete with mysterious origin story.
