Between here and there...

As a child, I was fascinated by the Olympics. Of course our schools always held the "Junior Olympics"...at which I never won a thing. lol
BUT! The hope was always there that someday I'd grow up to be good in some sport!
For the record, never happened. The only record I held was the most sprained ankles in one season on ice skates.
The winter games begin this week. Will you be watching?
What are your favorite sports to follow?
Do you prefer the Winter or Summer sports?
And if you could have competed in one sport, what would it have been?

I prefer to watch the Summer Olympics. I do watch the winter. Some of my favorites are the ski jump, the race where they shoot and ski (biathlon ? ) and I do watch some ice skating. The down hill is pretty exciting at times. Oh, and who will ever forget the 1980 hockey games when the USA beat the Soviet Union and then Finland for the gold metal.

Love watching the downhill races and also the figure skating. Also the bobsled races! I remember the Jamaican team in 1988...they made a movie based on it called "Cool Runnings".

Summer Olympics I prefer gymnastics.

I like the ski jumps but can't ski myself. I used to row in the quadruple scull boats at school and a while after. I should of kept rowing, I was fairly decent at it but then i met girls, :confounded: lol. I prefer the Summer Olympics.

Can you bet on speed skating yet ?
I'll tune in for hockey, and usually there will be some other sport that catches my interest for a little while. I still like all the pomp and circumstance during the opening ceremony. I still remember when Ralph Lauren designed the outfits for the Team USA. The ones with the cowboy hats.

Ralph Lauren has been designing the Olympics stuff for the last 10 Olympic cycles. They should give him a medal for that !

Never have been a winter sports fan, although I've been to a few hockey games and always enjoyed ski jumping. Remember the poor guy who lived a good chunk of his life as the "agony of defeat" personified?

I once interviewed for a job in Buffalo, NY. After speaking to a handful of different engineering groups within the company, the day ended with me meeting with the HR/employee relations rep. Her first statement was, "If you like winter sports, you'll love Buffalo."
