I've noticed the difference when walking into an old empty home. It's a sadness, an empty feeling...like it has literally "given up the ghost" of life. It's like all the energy leaked right out of it and the deterioration accelerates. As energy leaves a house, does it "die"?

I believe it is possible that houses can die, but I imagine more that they go dormant until new owners come along to infuse it with energy. When we bought our current home, the former owner's energy was very strong throughout the house. But I found her energy compatible with mine, so it wasn't unpleasant. Since we have been here six years, it feels more like our vibe than hers.

An old lady that I used to mow the lawns for had a very old, simple house but it had the warmest, happiest feel. After her passing I kept the garden tidy for her family who lived in Sydney and the now vacant house lost every nice feeling. It burnt down not long after, I feel it had just finished it's life and purpose.

A few years back, the 1880s farm house where I spent most of my childhood was razed. With it went the handful of other nearby farm houses, and thousands of acres of farm land, all for multiple housing developments.

This generated a somewhat philosophical discussion between my (younger) sister and I about our "home being dead and gone." I told her I believed it was still alive as long as someone remembers it existed where it sat. That's basically how I look at people, too. No one is dead as long as someone remembers them.

I agree. I learned that a house I lived at for nearly ten years had burned down. But in my mind, I can still clearly see it, remember going up and down the stairs, etc. So to me, it still stands.

After my buddy's parents house was cleaned out while still on the market, i was the last of us to enter the empty house. It was strange walking through the empty rooms and feeling all the memories within had faded.

All matter is made up of atoms and have an active ability on a cellular level. It would make sense that activity would energize the nuclear field of energy in the structures. Everything is in a state of decay or becoming disorderly if not receiving energy which is the 2nd law of thermodynamics. In effect houses left alone die in terms of crumbling into disorder and the energy moves on to somewhere else. We can bring this idea into a human connection where people left alone with no friends, family or even visitors often die much quicker than those who have family and friends interacting with them. Maybe they are lacking the energy exchange to keep them healthy and their body falls into disorder much quicker than those energized by love and care.

Outstanding observation, Lynne. That echoes my own feelings on the matter. Thanks for this post.
